Bishop accused of child abuse released until later date

A former bishop from Somerset has been released on medical grounds after being arrested on suspicion of abusing eight boys and men in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

80 year old The Right Reverend Peter Ball was Bishop of Gloucester when he retired in 1993. He was arrested this morning at Aller near Langport by Sussex police investigating historic allegations of child sex abuse. They say they will interview him at a later date.
