Police have released a recording of a man in Yeovil who called 999 to complain he was being chased by a badger.

He told the operator that he had "literally just got away" from the animal after dangling his keys and shouting at it a bit.

He went on to say the badger was "quite vicious" and it wouldn't stop chasing him.

The female operator told the man that he should probably contact animal control before asking him where the badger had gone.

To which the man replied "I didn't see where it went".

The woman politely told the caller that there's nothing the police would be able to do.

The call was released by Avon & Somerset police just hours after a man had dialled 999 to say a seagull had 'stolen' his sandwich.
