Welsh athletes end Rio Olympics with record-breaking 10 medals

Team GB's Welsh athletes have ended their time at Rio with a record-breaking haul of 10 Olympic medals, including four golds.

It's the best ever performance of Welsh athletes in an Olympic games, surpassing the 7 medals secured at London 2012.

Wales' Stanford narrowly misses out on bronze in triathlon

Welsh athlete Non Stanford has narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in the women's triathlon at Rio.

It was a close race for bronze between teammates Non Stanford and Vicky Holland Credit: PA

The 27-year-old finished fourth, just seconds behind Team GB's Vicky Holland who took bronze.

The USA's Gwen Jorgensen took gold, whilst Nicola Spirig from Switzerland took silver.

Fellow Welsh athlete Helen Jenkins crossed in 19th position.
