IN PICTURES: Royal Mail coach comes to Cardiff

A horse drawn carriage has toured Cardiff today, to mark 500 years since the Royal Mail was formed.

Staff and their families were fundraising for charity along the way, as the coach travelled through the capital and came to a stop at the Pierhead building in Cardiff Bay.

"In 1516 very few letters were sent. Obviously the Victorian age saw the rise of postage, with the advent of the penny post. One of the things we're doing is adapting to people's changing habits. Our parcel delivery service is huge now, but we still in Cardiff manage over nine million letters a week."
