Fake Trading Standards men steal from elderly lady

An elderly woman has had £180 stolen from her home by fake Trading Standards officers.

Gwent Police says the distraction burglary happened at the woman's home on Trinant Terrace, Trinant near Crumlin.

On Monday morning, 18th April, several phone calls and visits were made to the address made by two men.

They gained access by claiming to be from Trading Standards and saying that they needed to complete work at the address.

One of the men was described as being white, in his late 20s, of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue hooded top, blue jeans and a navy Nike baseball cap.

After the men left it was noticed that £180 was missing.
