Police probe death of Brian Stacy Hayes, who was found in Llynfi river

Police in Bridgend are investigating the sudden death of a man from Maesteg, whose body was discovered in the Llynfi river on Monday.

Brian Stacy Hayes, known as ‘Stacy’ by family and friends, was reported missing from his home in Bangor Terrace in Nantyffyllon by his family the day before he was found.

South Wales Police say they are trying to piece together his movements during the last days of his life.

The last confirmed sighting of Mr Hayes was around 11am on February 12.

Detective Inspector Andy Paddison said: “We are trying piece together his last movements and establish the circumstances surrounding his death, which at this stage we don’t believe to be suspicious.

"We want to hear from anyone who saw Stacy or had any contact with him between 11am on Friday, 12 February, and Monday, 15 February.”
