The Shadow Welsh Secretary says that Labour could have an army of new supporters to call on for next May's Assembly elections.

Owen Smith was speaking after the party chose Jeremy Corbyn as its new leader yesterday.

Although Smith was an opponent of Mr Corbyn, he's hopeful the enthusiasm he's generated will boost Labour in Wales.

There's an extraordinary phenomenon here. 550,000 people have taken part in that contest. It is the most dramatic moment in politics, in internal party politics, that any of us can remember. We've got to capitalise on that.
