The RSPCA was contacted after five of cats died unexpectedly with the same symptoms from Hall View, Caego, Wrexham. Owner Annalisa Torrence said she was “devastated” to lose her five cats - Thai and Tinka in February, Marley in May and then Garfield and Tiggy last week. She now has just two cats left.

“They were my babies,” she said. “I have two other cats and I just don’t think I could cope with this happening to them as well. I am devastated.”

This has been an extremely distressing situation for the owner who has lost five of her beloved pets. We have no way of telling whether this was a result of a deliberate act or because of poisonous substances not being safely stowed away, but what is concerning is that this has happened on several occasions and so may well happen again.

“We are appealing for information to try and find out how these suspected poisonings could have happened. We also would like to warn cat owners in the area to take their cats to a vet immediately if they seem unwell.”
