Man, 43, charged with murder of woman in Pencoed

A 43-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman near Bridgend.
Mark Lewis Stephens was arrested after police were called to an address in Tonteg in Pencoed shortly after 5.30pm on Saturday.
The woman has been named as 67-year-old Rita Stephens.
Police say Mr Stephens has also been charged with making threats to kill. He is due to appear at Bridgend Magistrates Court this morning.
"This incident has brought shock and sadness to the local community in Pencoed who I would like to thank for their support since this tragic incident. The family of Rita Stephens are being supported at this difficult time by specially trained liaison officers.”
