The chief executive of a North Wales health board placed in special measures has been suspended with immediate effect.
Professor Trevor Purt's suspension came this morning as a public meeting was held over the Betsi Cadwaladr board.
Officials said the suspension of Mr Purt had been a "neutral act" as part of the special measures process.
The health board says it will co-operate fully with the the Welsh Government in achieving the necessary improvements.
Controversial plans to remove doctor-led maternity care at some hospitals in north Wales have been abandoned.
The health board will stay in special measures and the future of its suspended chief executive is also expected to be announced.
Yesterday it was put into special measures; today its chief executive Trevor Purt has been suspended with immediate effect.
