Llanelli school evacuated after nearby explosion

A school in Llanelli has been evacuated after an explosion nearby.

Emergency services were called to Bryngwyn School just before 1pm following reports of a 'loud bang' and 'smoke rising into the air'.

They found that a nearby external transformer had exploded.

The school has been evacuated as a precaution and all pupils and staff are accounted for, and no one is injured. The fire service has set up a cordon. We emphasise all children are safe, and parents do NOT need to attend at the school.

Several hundred Western Power customers have temporarily been left without power following the incident.
