Cardiff Council passes 2015/16 budget after crunch talks

Cardiff councillors have voted in favour of budget proposals designed to meet a shortfall of more than £48m.

Around 100 protesters gathered outside the City hall

The Labour cabinet's proposals, including a last-minute amendment, were passed with 46 votes in favour.

Under the amended budget, council tax will rise by 5%, while play services, day centres and drug and alcohol services will receive extra funding.
