A North Wales man charged with attempted murder following an alleged machete and hammer attack at a local Tesco store last week will be asked to enter a plea in March.
Zack Davies, 25, of King Street in Mold, appeared at a short preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday via a live television link from Altcourse Prison in Liverpool. Judge Rhys Rowlands fixed a plea and directions hearing on March 10
Duncan Bould prosecuting, said that it was alleged that the defendant had attacked another man with a hammer and a machete at the Tesco store in Mold last Wednesday, causing very severe injuries.
The judge remanded Davies in custody pending the next hearing.
Davies is charged with the attempted murder of 24-year-old Sarandev Bhambra of Leeds who works in Mold as a dentist. The incident happened while he was shopping at the Tesco store during his lunch break.
The defendant is accused of attacking Mr Bhambra with a hammer and a machete which left him with deep cuts to the left hand, his back and to the back of his head.

Public Health Wales figures show 25 more cases of the virus have also been confirmed.
