Wales flanker Dan Lydiate has quit Racing Metro and will return to Wales following the Autumn Internationals.

Lydiate has failed to establish himself as a first team regular in the Racing side since joining the Paris based outfit in 2013, joining up with fellow Wales team-mates Jamie Roberts and Mike Phillips.

Racing revealed the agreement to release the 26 year old from the remainder of his contract on Thursday.

I would like to thank Racing Metro 92 for their welcome, and the 17 months I spent at the club. I would also like to thank the club officials for their understanding, and especially the way they agreed to release me from my contract.

– Dan Lydiate

It is likely Lydiate will now take up one of the newly negotiated dual contracts between a Welsh region and the Welsh Rugby Union, following in the footsteps of Wales captain Sam Warburton who became the first player to agree such a deal last season.

Racing Chairman Jacky Lorenzetti wished Lydiate all the best with his future and thanked him for his time at the Top 14 club.

We wish Dan an excellent end to the season with his new club, and all the best for his international future with Wales, whether for the November tests, the Six Nations, or the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
