Sunshine and showers - the theme for the next few days

There is going to be plenty of showers throughout the country during the day, some turning heavy and thundery at times.

In between these downpours there will be some spells of brightness and sunshine.

Highs today of 13 degrees Celsius along the coast and between 14 and 16 in land.

The Met Office has extended the yellow warning to cover the whole of the country and it is in places until 9 o'clock this evening.

A mild night to come but showers will continue throughout this evening and overnight as bands of rain push up from the continent.

The rain will push northwestwards and could be persistent and heavy at times.

An unsettled day tomorrow with the majority of the country seeing some showers but some brighter spells too.
