Pub landlord 'breached copyright' showing live football

A Swansea landlord could be forced to pay more than £125,000 in legal costs after a judge ruled he breached copyright by screening live football matches in his hotel.

The Football Association Premier League Ltd went to court claiming copyright infringement by Anthony Luxton at his pub, the Rhyddings in Brynmill, where it said "various football matches" were screened between September to December 2012.

Following a three-hour hearing, judge Mrs Justice Rose backed lawyers' claims that Mr Luxton had breached copyright rules.

He was ordered to pay £65,000 on account, which - pending final assessment - could double.
