Former Wales second row Ian Gough has signed for London Irish.

The 36-year-old left the Ospreys earlier this month, after the final year of his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Gough represented the Ospreys 119 times over six years, having previously played for the Dragons and Pontypridd.

He won 64 caps for Wales, the last of which came in 2010.

He said on Twitter that he is "very excited" to play in the English Premiership, after 17 years in Wales.

London Irish Director of Rugby Brian Smith said: “It’s great to have a player of Ian's stature and experience on board. He is a proven Test forward and has been exceptional at the set piece and the breakdown throughout his career. His presence and influence at the training ground will be massive.”
