Swansea pupil dies on 'pilgrimage' in Spain
A pupil at Bishop Vaughan Catholic School in Swansea has died while on a pilgrimage to Spain.
In a statement on its website the school said it was "devastated by the sudden death of a sixth form student".
The school says it is supporting the student’s family and "their thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends".
On Tuesday 12th July a party of twenty-one students and eight staff left for Spain, says the school, where they began a "cycling pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Western Spain".
The journey is 560 miles - and in a letter to parents the school said pupils and staff would be averaging between fifty and sixty miles a day.
The cycle was also raising money for charity.
