All the road closures you need to know about ahead of new Cardiff 10k route

A number of road closures and changes to public transport are in place ahead of the Nation Radio Cardiff 10k run.

A new route for the 10 kilometre race has been introduced this year, with participants setting off from King Edward VII Avenue.

Those competing in the race will run around the city centre before heading up Cathedral Road towards Llandaff Fields. Runners will then head back alongside Pontcanna Fields towards Cardiff Castle.

The final stretch takes competitors back along Castle Street and up North Road before reaching the finish line on Museum Avenue.

A number of full road closures will be in place over the weekend between 8am on Saturday 1 6pm on Sunday 2nd:

  • College Road from the junction with Museum Avenue to the junction with King Edward VII Avenue.

  • Museum Avenue from the junction with Corbett Road to the junction with Gorsedd Gardens Road.

  • King Edward VII Avenue from the junction with Boulevard De Nantes to the junction with City Hall Road; and from the junction with Corbett Road to the junction with College Road.

  • Gorsedd Gardens Road from the junction with Park Place to the junction with Museum Avenue

  • City Hall Road from the junction with North Road to the junction with Museum Avenue (Vehicle access to private parking and for deliveries will be maintained until 6am on Sunday 2nd September)

Other roads will be partially closed for parts of the day on Sunday. Event organisers have said all routes will be reopened as quickly as possible after the event.

Bus services will also disrupted over the weekend, with changes to departure points throughout the day.
