Firefighters have been tackling a blaze in a public service bus by the Cyfarthfa Retail Park in Merthyr Tydfil.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service say no one has been injured in the fire.
They have now left but police remain in the area.
One passerby said he could see "thick charcoal smoke".
