Light-fingered tourist sends 'cursed' stone back to Welsh abbey
An Australian tourist posted back a chunk of stone he had stolen from a Welsh abbey - because he believed it was cursed.
The holidaymaker said the ancient stone had given him "the most awful luck" after he took it from the tomb of a historic Welsh prince.
The anonymous visitor took the rock from Cwmhir Abbey in Abbeycwmhir, Powys, during a recent trip.
The site dates back to 1143 and is home to the grave of Welsh prince Llywelyn ap Gruffudd.
The Abbeycwmhir Heritage Trust received the stone taped to a greetings card, with the miscreant explaining they were a "fan" of the deceased royal.
The stone has now been placed back at the abbey ruins.
Roger Coward, from Abbeycwmhir Heritage Trust, said he hoped the anxious thief would have better luck now he had returned the stone.
