Thousands sign petition to stop Premier Inn being built in St Davids

Thousands have signed an online petition saying no to the building of a Premier Inn in St Davids.

The hotel was proposed as part of a new housing development which would include around 75 new homes - some of which would be reserved as affordable housing.

But a petition against the plans has expressed concerns that the hotel could "undermine" local business and "pave the way for more big chains". So far, it's attracted more than 2,000 signatures.

Whitbread - the company behind Premier Inn - says the development would be well-designed and respectful. It also says the plans would bring £1.5 million to the local economy.
