Family of critically injured rugby player Scott Bessant appeal for information
The family of a former rugby player who is in a coma in hospital has pleaded for the public's help in finding out what happened.
Scott Bessant, 34, was found seriously injured in the early hours of Sunday 13th August after a night out in Pontypool.
He was known to be in the Little Crown pub in Wainfelin until around 12.30-1.00am, with CCTV footage showing him enjoying himself before leaving with a friend at the end of the night.
At 5.15am, a member of the public found Scott lying on Pentwyn Lane in Abersychan, next to the bridge, where the Pontypool to Blaenavon Cycle Path crosses.
What happened to him in those four hours remains a mystery, and now his family have issued a desperate appeal for help.
His sister Sian Chere and her husband Neil visit Scott daily, and remain hopeful that he will begin to recover from his injuries.
Gwent Police is continuing to investigate exactly what happened that night.
