The independent National Crime Agency investigation was set up in 2012 to look into allegations of past abuse in the care system in North Wales.
Set up at the request of North Wales Chief Constable Mark Polin, the operation has so far resulted in the conviction of eight men, including care home owner John Allen, who was sentenced to life in prison in December 2014.
A total of 340 people have made contact with the investigation, and 84 complaints are still being actively investigated.
Despite not taking on any new investigations, Operation Pallial will remain active, completing all outstanding lines of enquiry, as well as supporting victims through any future trials.
One trial is due to take place in September, and information relating to 27 suspects is awaited from the Crown Prosecution Service.
Commenting on today's joint statement by the NSA and North Wales Police, a spokesman from NSPCC Cymru/Wales said victims should be aware they can still come forward.
New allegations of past abuse in the North Wales care system received from 1st September will now be investigated by local officers, but anyone who does wish to report to the National Crime Agency has until August 31st to do so.
