Tubby, the 'world's greenest dog' and record holder dies
Tributes have been paid to the 'world's greenest dog' who's died aged 13.
Tubby from Pontnewydd, Torfaen holds a Guinness World Record after picking up 26,000 plastic bottles for recycling.
The labrador would pick up at least six discarded bottles on his twice daily walks before crushing them in his mouth and taking them to owner Sandra Gilmore who put them out for recycling.
Mrs Gilmore believes he ended up collecting more than 50,000 throughout his lifetime. She says he was obsessed with them right up until his death.
The labrador became quite the star after gaining his world record, appearing in national and international newspapers, magazines and websites. At the height of his fame Tubby was presented with a bone live on ITV.
Torfaen Council's waste and recycling manager Cynon Edwards also paid tribute: "He was a remarkable dog and did a great job sniffing out rubbish to recycle, and helping to improve the environment for everyone in Torfaen.”
