Business Secretary arrives in Mumbai for Tata talks
Business Secretary Sajid Javid will be in Mumbai on Wednesday to hold talks with steel giant Tata, as efforts continue to save thousands of jobs.
Mr Javid will meet Cyrus Mistry, chairman of the Indian conglomerate, which is selling its loss-making UK business.
The secretary was involved in a series of meetings on Tuesday with other ministers, industry officials and union leaders.
Mr Javid also met Sanjeev Gupta, the head of Liberty Group, which has expressed an interest in buying Tata's British steel operations.
Mr Gupta held talks with the Government and has raised hopes that jobs could be saved, especially in Port Talbot.
Leaders of Community, Unite and the GMB unions spent an hour with Mr Javid before he left for Mumbai, stressing they wanted the Tata business sold together, rather than firms 'cherry-picking' different parts.
