What used to be a short drive to the shop has turned into a 16-mile diversion for villagers in Llanfair Clydogau

Villagers in west Wales have been left with a 16-mile diversion to get to their local shop after part of a 300-year-old bridge collapsed.

Part of the arch of the bridge over the River Teifi in Llanfair Clydogau, near Lampter, crumbled into the water earlier this month, closing the bridge to cars. On one side of the bridge is the post offie and village shop, while on the other is the village church and most of the homes.

Watch Kevin Ashford's report:

Ceredigion Council said the grade II-listed bridge had been inspected, but because of its listed status any repair work will have to be approved by conservationists.
