Man caught trying to pay for takeaway with fake £10 printed on toilet paper

A man has been fined after paying for a takeaway with a forged £10 note - printed on toilet paper.

Tyrone Coburn, 27, gave the note to a delivery driver for a Chinese meal.

But a court was told that the delivery driver's granddaughter spotted the bank note was printed on the toilet tissue bank note when they returned to the takeaway shop in Ferndale, South Wales.

Coburn had printed out the fake note using his home computer.

Prosecutor Andrew Gwynne said: "It appears the gentleman had chanced his arm."

Coburn, of Ferndale, South Wales, pleaded guilty to one count of passing a a counterfeit of a currency note.

Defence barrister Pat Matthews said: "This is going to be the most expensive takeaway of Mr Coburn's life.

Justices at Pontypridd Magistrates Court fined Coburn £40 and ordered him to pay costs of £105.
