Bogus workmen target 79-year-old in Cardiff distraction burglary
A 79-year-old woman from Cardiff has had a quantity of cash and other items stolen from her home following a distraction burglary on Sunday.
Two men called at the victim's address in Llanedeyrn at around 12:30pm. They claimed to be from the water board and told her that there had been a leak in the area.
She allowed the men into her home to turn off her water supply, but later discovered that a quantity of cash and other items had been stolen.
The first man is described as white, with a stocky build, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall with dark eyebrows and a short, dark and trimmed beard. He was wearing a peak hat or hooded top.
The second man is described as white, around the same height, with a light build and a thin face, long chin and pale complexion. He was wearing a cloth hat with a cord hanging down either side of his face and covering his ears.
Police are reminding householders not to allow any cold callers into their homes and to keep a close eye out for older or vulnerable neighbours.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101.
