Caernarfon Castle to host Tower of London poppy sculpture
Caernarfon Castle is to play host to 'Weeping Window', one of the iconic poppy sculptures installed at the Tower of London in 2014.
The original display, 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red', consists of 888,266 poppies marking every death in the British and Colonial forces of the First World War.
'Weeping Window' is the cascade of poppies that was seen pouring out of a high window down to the grass moat below.
The installation will open at the castle in October 2016, and remain in place for Remembrance Day and the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
Locations across the UK were asked to bid to host the sculpture, and Caernarfon Castle was successful alongside Lincoln Castle and the Black Watch Museum in Perth.
