A man and woman have appeared in court charged with the murder of a Cardiff mother.

Nadia Jones' body was found at her flat in Tremorfa on Sunday.

Kial Ahmed, 34, of Tongwynlais, and 26-year-old Roxanne Deacon, of Grangetown, have been charged with murdering Mrs Jones.

The pair made a brief appearance at Cardiff Magistrates' Court, where they spoke only to confirm their identity.

Proceedings were adjourned until Friday, when the two will appear at Newport Crown Court. Both were remanded into custody.

Mrs Jones's family paid tribute to the 38-year-old who was a former pupil at Glyn Derw High School.

A statement issued via South Wales Police said: "While we are devastated by what has happened, we will always remember Nadia as being a happy-go-lucky, bubbly person with a smile on her face.

"Nadia's 19-year-old daughter looks back fondly at the many day trips she had while growing up with her mum and how she always liked to take friends along - such was Nadia's generosity and kindness."

In the meantime, South Wales Police is asking anyone with information on Mrs Jones's death to contact them via 101 or 01656 655555.
