It is monsoon season now in Nepal and thousands of Nepalis are trying to rebuild their lives and their country three months after the devastating earthquake

Maya Shyangba Hyolmo is one of them. The Coleg Cambria hairdressing student lost her mother in the disaster and her family home.

She has travelled from Chester back to Nepal to help her relatives. When she heard about the quake, she feared the worst. After speaking to her uncle on the phone, her fears were confirmed.

Maya’s friends back home helped to raise money towards her journey to Nepal.

She has now been back to her village to pay respects to her mother, and to gather what personal items she could find.

Now homeless, her father is staying with relatives in Kathmandu.

Across Nepal half a million houses have been destroyed, and half that number again are damaged.

Meanwhile almost daily aftershocks continue following the earthquake in April.
