There's a hunt on for "Woody" the scarecrow who is missing - presumed stolen - just hours after he won first prize in a village competition.

Over the weekend Woody came out top in the annual event in Llanasa in Flintshire.

Organisers say they are becoming increasingly concerned for the figure, from Toy Story and North Wales Police are now involved in the search.

On its Facebook page Llanasa Village Hall said this wasn't the first theft of a scarecrow:

"Last week, another scarecrow (horseless rider) was stolen from Green Lane. We hoped that was a one off, but it seems not. Please share this post. We want our scarecrows returned. Send Woody home!!!"

Woody had won first prize just before he was stolen.

Woody is described as around three feet tall, wearing jeans, a yellow and red checked shirt and cowhide waiscoat and a stetson hat.
