The mansion was officially listed in 1971 and is now protected by heritage body Cadw. The mansion and grounds were not open to the public on a regular basis until it went on sale last week.

Estate Agent Frank Knight says there has been a lot of interest in the mansion already. George Bramley, one of the partners at the firm, said: "It’s such a large estate in terms of acreage. It could be appealing to anyone. There has already been a lot of local interest in it.”

A 32-page catalogue about the property has been put together including details of the 2,075-acre coastal and sporting estate, three cottages, coach house and series of outbuildings included in the £5m asking price.
