The mum-to-be behind a last-ditch legal bid to keep doctor-led services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital in Bodelwyddan says she's fighting for families everywhere.

Karen Armstrong, from Denbigh, is 33-weeks pregnant and has four other children all of which have been born at Glan Clwyd. If the changes went ahead, she'd have to travel to Wrexham Maelor to give birth.

She has joined with other mums campaigning against downgrading maternity services at the hospital in seeking a judicial review.

Last month, a 15,200-signature petition was handed in at the Senedd against the changes.

Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board says the move to non-consultant led services is necessary to ensure patient safety due to staffing problems. The changes had been postponed after alternatives were suggested to the health board.

An extraordinary general meeting of the health board was due to take place on Monday. Last night Betsi Cadwaladr released a statement saying it had received a letter to say a judicial review was being sought.
