Coast & Country returns tonight with a brand new series, showcasing the very best of the Welsh countryside and its people.

Andrew Price is in the Vale of Glamorgan embarking on a fascinating walk from Monknash to Nash Point.

Along the route he meets Phil Gibbins, from local walking charity Valeways, who shares the history of the areas shipwrecks.

Andrew also discovers how new technology is bringing the history of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast alive, before visiting Nash Point lighthouse and learning how it's keeping up with the times.

It's a walk of about four miles, and before heading home Andrew pops into the Plough & Harrow in Monknash to discover its links with the ships that sank along this rugged coastline.

As concerns grow for the vulnerability of the harbour porpoise in Welsh waters, Ruth Wignall travels to Amlwch in an attempt to spot these elusive mammals off the northern coast of Anglesey.

Ruth meets Dr Peter Evans from the Sea Watch Foundation near Bull Bay to understand a little more about the conservation concerns surrounding the harbour porpoise.

She also met Nia Jones from the North Wales Wildlife Trust who teaches her how to spot harbour porpoise and distinguish them from dolphins.

Ruth said: "They are just beautiful animals. They're so small and so quick though, you only get real fleeting glances. It was definitely a challenge for our cameraman to capture them. He had to be very quick and almost second guess where they would pop up!"

And as we launch the Coast & Country Gallery of Wales, Nicola Hendy learns how to take the perfect picture with landscape photographer Neil Mansfield in the Brecon Beacons. If you have a photograph you'd like to submit to our gallery please send it, along with your name, address and telephone number to coastandcountry@itv.com
