Film aims to show dangers involved in 'sexting'

Police forces throughout Wales are sending officers into schools to show children a filmwhich focuses on the risks and dangers of sexting to raise awareness about the social and legal consequences of sending indecent images.

As part of Internet Safety Day, parents are being encouraged to talk to their children about the time they spend online.

98% of young people use the internet and recent figures show a large number of them have been asked or have sent an indecent image of themselves.

· An average young person aged between 12 and 15 uses the Internet for 17 hours a week.

· 60% of young people said they had been asked for a sexual image or video of themselves.

· 85% of young people sent an indecent image know the sender of the image.

· 25% of young people have sent an indecent image or video of themselves to someone else.

· 40% of young people said they have created an indecent image of themselves.
