Calls for report into north Wales dementia care allegations to be published

Calls are being made for a report into allegations over the care of dementia patients at a north Wales hospital to be published.

The Mail on Sunday printed a story containing serious allegations about the level of care provided to patients on the Tawel Fan ward of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan.

Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar says he's tabled an urgent question in the Assembly for the coming week.

Allegations over care on the ward first came to light last Christmas and an inquiry was announced. It recently emerged that police had launched a criminal investigation.

In a statement, the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has apologised to patients and their families. It says the ward has been closed since concerns were raised last December and that it has been working with North Wales Police in their investigation.
