Aberystwyth scientist awarded for glacier research

A scientist at Aberystwyth University has just won an international award for his work studying microbes in glaciers.

Dr Arwyn Edwards has shown that the bacteria cause the ice to melt faster - adding to the effects of global warming. He received a Microbiome Award following a decade of research, including a three-month stint this summer in Greenland, Svalbard, the Swedish Arctic and the Alps.
