It's 100 years today since the first successful flight was made from Wales to Ireland.

A milestone in aviation history was reached when Denys Corbett Wilson took off from Pembrokeshire, West Wales to County Wexford in Ireland.

Mr Corbett Wilson began his journey from a field in Goodwick, Pembrokeshire, at around six in the morning and landed 100 minutes later in a field near Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

He initially set off from North London racing a fellow aeroplane enthusiast, Damer Leslie Allen. Mr Allen was seen flying over Holyhead, but was later reported lost and never found.

Mr Corbett Wilson, meanwhile, was forced down near Hereford before finally making the crossing. There will be a festival this weekend to celebrate the centenary anniversary.
