Crews extinguish fire at linen mill in Maghera

Fire crews have dealt with a blaze at a textiles recycling centre outside Maghera in Co Londonderry.

It's understood the fire at William Clarke and Sons linen mill started at around 1.40pm on Sunday.

The two storey building was well alight and the roof had collapsed when crews arrived at the scene.

No staff were working inside at the time.

There was a danger of the fire spreading to nearby properties however five fire appliances, an aerial appliance and water tanker - which pumped water from an underground river - brought the blaze under control.

Investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
