Lithuanian residents ‘terrified’ after shots fired at home

Four people from Lithuania including a 19-year-old woman say they have been left terrified after shots were fired at their home in a racist attack in Lurgan.

Three men and the young woman who live at the Princes Street property moved to Northern Ireland eight months ago to work.

They were asleep upstairs when they heard a number of gunshots at around 2am on Monday.

They have told UTV they have been left absolutely terrified but they won’t be leaving.

The front door and living room window of the house were damaged by the gunfire.

Police are treating the shooting as a racially-motivated hate crime and are appealing for anyone with information to contact detectives at Lurgan station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 82 05/09/16.

Or alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak anonymously on 0800 555 111.
