DUP mayor speaks Irish to open language event
A DUP mayor will be speaking Irish when he opens an event for young speakers of the language in Newtownabbey.
Irish has become one of the most contentious issues at the heart of the political stalemate at Stormont, but against that backdrop, the DUP’s Paul Hamill will be embracing the language.
Speaking to UTV, Mr Hamill said people may be surprised by the amount of reaching out by his party.
