Belfast-bound bus catches fire outside Lurgan

Seven passengers have escaped injury on a morning commute after a Translink goldline coach caught fire outside Lurgan.

The ablaze bus was reported near the Loughview Park and Ride facility at around 7.45am on Thursday.

It was serving the Ulsterbus 261 route between Dungannon and Belfast.

Translink confirmed the incident was an engine fire and said it is currently investigating the cause.

A spokeswoman said: “All safety procedures were put in place. No one was injured and the driver and the seven passengers were all taken off the bus safely and transferred onto another bus to complete their journey.

“Emergency services attended the scene and have extinguished the fire.”
