Rory McIlroy wins FedEx Cup after victory in Atlanta
A play-off win against American Ryan Moore gave Rory McIlroy victory in the Tour Championship and saw him claim golf's richest prize.
He edged out rival Dustin Johnson in PGA Tour's season-long points race with a win at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
The Holywood golfer sank a 15 foot putt to seal the win and landed not only the tournament's $1.5m (£1.15m) prize, but a $10m (£7.7m) payday for clinching the FedEx Cup.
McIlroy had to hold his nerve in a tense three-way play-off against Americans Kevin Chappell and Ryan Moore.
Chappell, who was the overnight joint leader with Johnson, looked to be on course to take the tournament title but a bogey on the 17th allowed McIlory and Moore back in.
Chappell then dropped out on the first sudden-death hole before McIlroy beat Moore on the fourth after they could not be separated on the second or third.
A win for either American would have seen compatriot Johnson win the FedEx Cup, but it was the world number three celebrating at the end as he took home both titles.
