GARC dismisses Ardoyne parade deal
The Greater Ardoyne Residents Committee (GARC) has dismissed the announcement of a deal on parades in the Ardoyne area.
A deal was reached between CARA (Crumlin and Ardoyne Residents Association) and the Orange Order on Friday evening.
GARC claimed that they had not been involved in the deal and that there “had been no comprehensive consultation with residents” and described it as a “shady deal.”
Previous negotiations between groups had come close to a deal in July, but fell away after one of the Orange Lodges involved, Ballysillan, pulled out.
The deal, if approved by the Parades Commission, would see the lodges complete the return leg of the parade along the Crumlin Road on the morning of Saturday 1 October.
After the parade takes place, the protest camp at Twaddell Avenue will be disbanded and the Orange Order will not apply to make the return leg on the Twelfth without agreement.
The application for the procession will be handed into the Parades Commission on Monday.
