Manchester bomber: Police appeal to find suitcase as station reopens

Manchester Victoria railway station has reopened a week after the suicide bombing which killed 22 people and left more than 100 injured.

The reopening of the station comes just hours after a vigil was held in Manchester city centre for the victims of the attack, and a day after police appealed for information about a blue suitcase bomber Salman Abedi was carrying on the day of the attack.

Man 'with suspicious package' arrested in Wigan

Armed police tackled a man to the ground in Wigan as detectives made their fifth arrest in connection with the Manchester bombing.

Witnesses say the man was detained in Upper Dicconson Street after he was seen with a suspicious package.

The town centre was in lockdown as officers carrying automatic weapons carried out the raid.

Photos shared on social media appeared to show him being led away by plain clothes officers with their faces covered wearing black police caps.

Greater Manchester Police said: "We have made an arrest in Wigan this afternoon in connection with the investigation into the horrific incident at Manchester Arena.

"The man was carrying a package which we are currently assessing, a police cordon remains in place while this is carried out."
