Syria ceasefire enters third day

The eyes of the world are on Syria as a ceasefire agreement continues to hold.

The Syrian government and rebels have signed up to deal brokered by the United States and Russia, despite concerns raised by rebels.

Hours before the ceasefire, Syrian President Bashar Assad said he is determined to recover all areas of the country from terrorist groups.

Syrian rebels say they will honour ceasefire deal

Syrian rebel groups have confirmed that they will accept a planned nationwide ceasefire due to start tomorrow but warned they have concerns over the deal brokered by the US and Russia.

A letter from an umbrella rebel organisation to the US said they would "cooperate positively" with the peace plan but added they were concerned about a lack of monitoring for compliance or sanctions if the deal is broken.

It also raised concerned that the agreement neglected to ensure aid reached all besieged areas and allowed government jets to remain flying up to nine days after the start of the ceasefire.
