As well as interesting United, he is also thought to be a summer transfer target for Man City and Liverpool, who are managed the man who signed him for Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013, Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League is likely to hand United and City the upper hand in their pursuit of the striker, as Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola resume rivalries in the Premier League.
