New Day newspaper 'set to close on Friday'

Trinity Mirror is reportedly going to shut its new national newspaper the New Day on Friday just two months after launch.

The title was launched at the end of February with a promotional print run of about two million copies and a £5 million TV ad campaign that ran with the strapline “Seize the New Day”.

The paper was aimed at those who had "fallen out of love with newspapers".

Trinity Mirror is expected to announce the closure on Friday after its AGM on Thursday, the Spectator reported.

Trinity Mirror declined to comment when contacted by ITV News.
